It's the First Week of School

We will be taking a lot of time the first MANY weeks of school just learning about our classroom and 1st grade expectations. We will be visiting the playground, buses, and cafeteria to have a little refresher course on routines and expectations at Central Elementary. We will also be working together to write our classroom rules and taking some time to get to know each other. When your kiddo comes home, always ask them to tell you one thing about their day. I can't wait for a fun and educational first week of school!

Reading/Units of Study: We will understand the importance of asking questions before, during and after reading. We will be able to retell stories by discussing the beginning, middle and ending. We will be able to give character traits about ourselves and characters in books. We will understand the meanings of our vocabulary words, trait and text.
Writer's Workshop: We will be able to write complete sentences with capital letters, ending marks and spacing between words.
Math: We will be able to review our numbers by counting and practicing writing them. We will be able to count and create different groups of numbers.
Phonics: We will not start phonics until next week.
