November 17-20

This week we will wrap up learning about matter and we will also finish up our topic on addition. Mid-week, we will begin our new unit titled, Around the World. We will learn about various cultures, customs and traditions from around the world, as well as reading fairy tales that have some of those same customs & traditions. In math, we will take our Topic 5 test and begin Topic 6, which is all about
subtraction strategies. Have a great week!

Reading/Units of Study: We will be able to write down "I remember" statements about matter. We will be able to identify facts about different countries.

Phonics: We will be able to read & write words with -or, which is an r-controlled vowel. Our spelling words for the week are: pork, born, for, torn, stork, fork, sport, corn, fort, short, absorb, and port. Remember, they can be accessed through Spelling City

Math: We will understand how to use strategies to add and subtract up to 20.

Writing: We will be able to publish our small moments personal narrative. We will write a how-to book.

Grammar: We will continue to review the meanings of noun, verb, and adjective.

Social Studies/Science: We will understand how matter can change into various states. We can learn about cultures, customs and traditions around the world.
