December 1st - 5th

Next week we will continue working on cultures and traditions around the world. I am looking forward to teaching the kiddos about the different countries that they may be able to visit in the future. Don't forget to talk to your kiddos about what they are learning about and what they like best about what they are learning. Also, a lot of kiddos came home with some pretty interesting recipes today. Everyone got to write a "How-To" book on cooking or making their favorite Thanksgiving food. Some were pretty entertaining to say the least! There's nothing like being told that a cake bakes
for 3 minutes at 32 temperature :) Enjoy your extended weekend and have fun with your family! 

Reading/Units of Study: We will be able to identify facts about different countries. We will also understand how to compare and contrast countries to find similarities and differences.
Vocabulary: We will know the meaning of culture & compass rose.

Phonics: We will be able to read & write words with -or, which is an r-controlled vowel. Our spelling words for the week are:  car, far, jar, farm, park, chart, star, part, dart, dark, bark, arm. Remember, they can be accessed through Spelling City

Math: We will be able to use strategies to subtract up to 20.

Writing: We will be able to write an opinion about what which country we like best.

Grammar: We will continue to review the meanings of noun, verb, and adjective.

Social Studies/Science: We will be able to understand different cultures, customs and traditions around the world.
