Our new unit is titled, Winds of Change. During this unit, we will use nonfiction books to study the seasons and how changes in the weather and temperature affects things around us. Cause and effect will be a big discussion piece for us. Here is a link to a Brainpop, jr. video that you can watch with your child to reinforce cause and effect. Remember, to watch the video, it needs to be during the hours of 8-4:30 and your child should know the log-in information. While reading some fiction
books, we will focus on how characters change throughout stories. At home, while you read with your child, you can ask them some of the following prompts to help them determine changes in characters:
-How did the character feel at the beginning of the story?
-How did the character feel during the middle of the story?
-What caused the character to change the way he or she felt throughout the story?
-What are some emotions or feelings that happened in the story?
-How did the character feel at the end of the story?
-How were the characters feelings like a roller coaster?
-Have you ever felt one way and then changed your feelings?
-What has caused you to change the way you felt?
