Writer's Workshop

     During this unit, we will be doing a ton of descriptive writing. We will begin by working on a personal narrative, a story written about ourselves, about our favorite thing to do during our favorite season or type of weather. Our focus will be including sensory details to give the reader a better idea of our message. As the unit continues, we will be writing a variety of narratives and I will be adding some pictures of our class hard at work.

     As the unit goes on, we will continue to focus on writing narratives. We will be learning how
to revise by making our stories sound better. Here is a great video to reinforce revising. Below is in anchor chart that we will be using to remember the 4 parts of revising our writing. 

     Not only will we be revising our writing, but we will also be editing. Editing is all about changing the way our writing looks. When we edit, we check for end marks, spelling, capital letters in the right places, or words that need to be added or deleted. We will be learning how to use these different marks to write a sloppy copy (draft) and a final copy. We will even be using some fun pieces of technology to publish our writing. The students will be so excited to share their writing with you!
